 To condemn, criticize harshly
 USAGE EXAMPLE 1 :
 The worst thing for a primary school teacher would be to excoriate a pupil and probably scar him for life.
 USAGE EXAMPLE 2 :
 The worst thing, by contrast, is simply to excoriate your opponents while carrying on as before.
